The implant is placed during a minor surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia or, if preferred, intravenous sedation for added comfort. A small incision exposes the jawbone, a specialized drill prepares the site, and the titanium implant is carefully inserted to serve as the new tooth root. The gum is then sutured closed around the implant. Once healing and osseointegration are complete, an abutment and a custom-made crown are attached to finish the restoration.
