What is Dental Implant?

Today, thanks to new and technological materials, implant applications can be made much easier, painless and faster.
The implants are placed in the jawbone so that they are suitable for bone and gingival tissue and are compatible with jaw closure. Implant prostheses are just as real teeth as aesthetic and function is provided. Thus, the implant and the porcelain tooth replacing the missing tooth can easily be used without any difference from the patient's own tooth.

Who Can Get Implant Done?

It can be applied to any patient who has completed growth development that does not carry a risk of infection or bleeding due to chronic diseases. Implant can be applied in all kinds of missing teeth.

Stages of Implant Treatment

1-    Planning: The bone structure, amount, quality of the bone and the anatomical structure of the region of the patient to be implanted are examined by radiological and intra oral examination. Treatment protocols are planned and the patient is informed.
2-    Implant surgery application: Depending on the surgical procedure and duration of application to the patient, the general or local anesthesia is also decided considering the patient's request. After all the surgical sterile conditions are met for implant placement, implant cavities are prepared and implants are placed in the defined jaw bone area. Implants are sutured over and covered, and the recovery process varies from case to case between 1.5 months to 4 months.
3-    Recovery Process: The stitches either melt or removed within 1 week. During this process, it is recommended to use oral care and mouthwash to prevent bacterial growth on the stitches.
4-    Construction of Prosthesis: The closing screws placed on the implants are opened at the end of the waiting period and the same measure is taken during the same session. Porcelain teeth can be made within 30 minutes - 1 day by CEREC depending on the teeth. In cases where porcelain teeth has to be made with the classical method, the teeth are made and the treatment is completed within 3-4 days.

Is Implant Operation Painful?

Implant application is a painless procedure usually performed under local anesthesia, and it takes between 5 and 30 minutes. Although the severity of the pain felt by the anesthesia is variable, such pain is not unbearable. With the pain killer your dentist will prescribe, you will have a painless recovery process and you will recover very quickly. The persons who had implants usually say they do not need one or two painkillers after the first two days.

After Implant

Following the implant operation, following your dentist's recommendations will allow you to experience the recovery process very quickly.
You should be careful with your dental care after the operation and you should pay attention to the location of wound. The ice compresses you will apply over your cheeks with 10 minutes intervals will reduce or even prevent the formation of swelling. Remember that cigarette use will delay the healing.
For infections that may occur after the implant operation, you should take the antibiotic treatment prescribed by your dentist. You can use the painkillers recommended by your dentist.
Do not rinse off your mouth rigorously or do not split for the first 2 days.
