Simple Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure aimed at enhancing the appearance of the nose, focusing on minor reshaping for improved facial harmony without extensive structural modifications.

What is Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)?
Rhinoplasty is a surgery to change the shape of the nose. It is also called a ‘nose job’. The procedure aims to reshape the nose and improve its function according to its needs and requests. The main reasons for rhinoplasty may be functional or cosmetical.
Who are the best candidates for a rhinoplasty?
Here are some factors to check to decide if you are suitable or not for a simple rhinoplasty procedure:
- Good overall physical health without serious medical conditions that could impair healing or increase surgery risks.
- Candidates should be at least in their late teens, as the nose should be fully developed. This is usually around 16-17 for girls and 17-18 for boys.
- Having a realistic understanding of what rhinoplasty can and cannot achieve. It's important to seek improvement, not perfection.
- Individuals who wish to correct or improve specific aspects of their nose, such as size, shape, or a bump on the nasal bridge
- Individuals wanting to correct breathing difficulties or structural irregularities, like a deviated septum.
- Being aware of the potential risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty.
- Non-smoking individuals or willing to quit well in advance of the surgery.

Important information!
Before undergoing a rhinoplasty procedure, these are the elements you should consider:
- Select a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in rhinoplasty.
- Familiarize yourself with the rhinoplasty process, including the techniques your surgeon plans to use and the rationale behind them
- Quit smoking at least 4-6 weeks before and after the surgery for a better recovery.
- Two weeks before surgery, avoid blood thinning medications and supplements as they increase bleeding, such as aspirin, NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), and vitamin E.
On the procedure day, the medical team prepares you for the surgery by administering general anesthesia.
- The procedure begins with the administration of anesthesia to ensure the patient's comfort.
- Rhinoplasty can be performed using a closed procedure, where incisions are hidden inside the nose, or an open procedure, where an incision is made across the columella.
- Reshaping the nose structure: the surgeon may remove bone or cartilage to achieve the desired size, or graft cartilage (often taken from the septum, ear, or ribs) if the nose needs to be built up.
- If the septum is deviated, it can be straightened, and projections inside the nose can be reduced to improve breathing
- Once the underlying structure of the nose is sculpted to the desired shape, nasal skin and incisions are closed.
After the rhinoplasty procedure, bruises and swelling may occur in the operated area. For a better recovery process, make sure you take the following elements into consideration:
- Adhere strictly to the post-operative care instructions provided by your surgeon to fasten healing and reduce the risk of complications.
- Prioritize rest, especially in the first 24-48 hours. Sleep with your head elevated above your chest to minimize swelling and bleeding.
- Refrain from strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and vigorous exercise for at least 4-6 weeks to prevent bleeding or increased swelling.
- If a nasal splint is applied, it usually stays in place for about a week. Follow your surgeon's instructions regarding the care and removal of the splint.
- Protect your nose from the sun. Excessive sun exposure can cause permanent discoloration. Use high-SPF sunscreen when going outdoors.
- Avoid wearing glasses for at least 4 weeks to prevent pressure on the nasal tissues.
- Avoid blowing your nose for at least 2 weeks or as directed by your surgeon to prevent disruption of healing.
