Eyelids are one of the most important features of our face. They define the look of the eye and our appearance as well. Eyelids are the first things that reflect when we are tired or sleepy. Therefore the condition of both upper and lower eyelid is important. Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery can be performed to lower eyelid, upper eyelid or both. Blepharoplasty covers removing the excess skin tissue in the upper eyelid, removing the excess fat tissue and skin tissue in the lower eyelid and repositioning the eyelid line in both areas. The incision can be made via scalpel as well as laser. We perform laser blepharoplasty since it is faster and safer and it yields a faster recovery period. The laser is actually used for the incision for removal of the hooding skin of the upper eyelids. The result is dramatic, evident immediately, and bruising is usually minimal with the laser.
Why should I have a Laser Blepharoplasty operation?
If you are complaining about dropping of the eyelids or lower eyelid bagginess then you might be a good candidate for the Laser Blepharoplasty operation. Although the plastic surgery era is highly developed and there are new treatment models for several other procedures; there is still no efficient alternative of blepharoplasty operation. If you are not comfortable with the look of your eyelids blepharoplasty operation may be a solution for you.
Blepharoplasty operations are performed under local anesthesia and it takes to perform the procedure nearly 30 minutes. It is really important to decrease the operation duration in order to yield a better postoperative period to the patient. You will get a physical examination by your surgeon. After the examination; we will prepare you for the surgery. You will receive a sedation in order to reduce the preoperative anxiety and fell yourself more comfortable.
In the presence of volume loss; blepharoplasty can be combined with stem cell enriched fat transfer in order to have a better result. If you have volume loss in the supportive fat pads then it is the best way to combine stem cell enriched fat transfer to the lower eyelids. Because removing the excess skin tissue will not solve problem by itself but lead to depression in the lower eyelid area in a later time period. Therefore; assessing the patient properly and understanding the exact need is the most important step in the aesthetics surgery practice. You can be sure that you will be evaluated in detail to understand what bothers you and what the underlying problem that led to this condition is.
Recovery and Results :
After the blepharoplasty operations the recovery period depends on your physical status, age, general health and condition mainly. In most cases we perform the operation under local anesthesia. But if it is decided for you to undergo a general anesthesia by both you and the doctors then you may receive general anesthesia. The operation itself does not take too long therefore you receive a mild anesthesia. Since the anesthesia that you receive is mild; you will not have problems associated with anesthetic agents after the operation. After the operation you will have stiches on the skin incisions which will be removed after the 10th day. You can start to do your daily activities just after the operation but we do not advise you to do tiring physical activities like running, heavy lifting or these kind of exercises for at least 7 days. The more you rest, the faster your recovery will be.
• A fresher look
• Less bleeding
• Less bruising
• Less swelling
• Faster recovery
• More accurate result
• Faster surgery-about 1/3 of the operative time required than with scalpel blepharoplasty.
